C2 Building Group completed the renovation of an existing structure and the construction of two new buildings to establish the new TYRA Biosciences headquarters in the heart of downtown Carlsbad. The project included converting the original building into a state-of-the-art life science facility, along with the addition of modern office space, a fully equipped gym, and upgraded parking solutions.

Working in a highly congested urban environment presented significant challenges, including limited parking, restricted staging areas, and complex right-of-way coordination. C2 successfully navigated these issues through strategic planning and close coordination with local authorities. An innovative design/build solution was implemented mid-project to incorporate eight vehicle lifts into the parking area—an essential feature not originally in the scope. C2 worked closely with the structural engineer to seamlessly integrate this new element during active construction, showcasing the team’s agility and problem-solving capabilities. This project is a strong example of C2’s ability to deliver complex, multi-building life science campuses in dense, high-traffic urban settings—on time and with adaptive expertise.
